Kendel Carson

Although only a mere 23 years old, singer, songwriter and fiddler Kendel Carson debuts on Rearview Mirror Tears with the artistic assurance and musical maturity of a far older artist as well as the charm of a future star. Produced by musical legend Chip Taylor and released on his Train Wreck Records, Rearview Mirror Tears introduces an artist whose natural blend of folk, country and rock marks her as one of 2008's brightest new musical lights.

An update on The Old Lady.......

Will finally I managed to complete all the repair on the chassis except from the bent chassis legs. The chassis is now ready to be riveted back together using an old technique 'hot riveting'.

A hot rivet is inserted into a hole passing through two clamped plates to be attached and the head is supported whilst a head is formed on the other end of the shank using a hammer or a special shaped tool. When a hot rivet cools it contracts imposing a compressive (clamping) stress on the plates.

The rivet itself is then in tension the tensile stress is approximately equal to the yield stress of the rivet material.

Old Timer takes to the Stage.....

Old Timer takes to the stage after 38 years..

Last night, Dundee saw an Old Timer take to the stage after 38 years of retirement. Waddel as he is known as to his friends took to the stage in "Druthies" on the Perth Road for what was a most breath taking impressive performance. Playing solo for the first time he covered a great song 'Chasing Cars' by Snowpatrol.

Speaking to his fans after the performance here are a few quotes
'Very good performance, he's been rehearsing for some time and it's paid off' says Mike from Broughty Ferry. ' Great number, well done' Said Kirk. 'Wow, fine song sung by a fine chap. He even had the crowd singing along with him' said Andrew from Auchterhouse.
Well there you have it, Hopefully his Scottish tour dates will be announced shortly. Watch this space..
Latest addition watch the live recording from his performance below

40 years..........

O bugger someones just reminded me I'm 40 tomorrow!!

2 Wheels or Blind folded!!

Close one...

Went to work today as i normally do in the Austin 7 Ulster, great sun shinny day for the 2nd of Oct. Just left the bakery and having a bit of fun got to the roundabout no one coming and around i went and slid the rear end out, but nightmare started as the rear wheels got caught in a rut and up she went on to two wheels. Now every thing went in slow motion at this point, as the car hung on the balance point on two wheels. I've never shifted my weight so quickly to get the car back on 4 wheels. A couple of workies saw it happen and a round of applose was given when I stopped to check the spokes were all OK..

Scary one, but a bit of fun........

Hit and Run.......

After driving my 1935 Austin 7 daily for the last 6 months covering 6375 miles. Today some silly bugger hit the car while it was parked, bending the Stainless steel bumper and damaging the bumper iron support leg.

All I can say is the Ba..ard that hit my car wont be laughing, I recon his plastic bumper will be damaged and the paint work scraped, a costly bill serves him right Ha Ha....

The old Lady... Chassis Rivets

Bugger I have a sore hand now!!

I've been removing the rivets from the chassis tonight using a cold chisel. And guess what yep I hit my hand with a 3lb hammer in full swing, now left with a sore and swollen left hand!!

If your going to try this at home then take some advise here we go.

Removel of rivets from the chassis...

"The way to do this is to use a cold chisel ~3/8 wide and a 3lb ball pein hammer, should only take a few blows to knock each head off but takes a bit of practice (wear huge leather gloves and fit a few 6" discs of carpet with holes in the middle over the end of the chisel so you ain't too worried by the prospect of hitting your hand while trying that hard)."

The Old Lady.. c.

For an 80 year old, the body is in very good condition. Although most of the corrosion has happened where the Ali and Steel have come into contact with each other. There are a few cracks in the body. But it's the floor pan that is suffering the most unfortunately, the steel has stretched and cracked mainly on the passengers side.

The Old Lady.. b.

Below are a few pic's of the chassis, the main problem areas are loose rivets and cracks in both chassis legs (front and rear). The next step is removing the rivets using a cold chisel and then carefully grinding off the old repair welds.

The other problem is the chassis is bent on both legs (just over 1/2inch on the drivers side), and to bend it back requires a very careful technique. Watch this space!!

The main problems were the body had cracked below and behind the doors and the chassi is cracked, rivets loose and worse is the chassi is badly bent.
